Disclaimer: Disclaimers are for pussies. I know my brush strokes are broad this entry. If I offend you, fuck it...write a blog.
I've been fighting with myself on whether or not to write this entry. Not because I don't believe in what I'm writing on this page wholeheartedly, but because a good majority of the internet lacks basic reading comprehension and context will vanish from my words.
Why should the world give a fuck about gamers? Seriously.
It seems we've adopted apathy as our mascot. We step on flowers, kick puppies and take candy from babies; LOLing all the way. Strutting about like the lone house cat of a spinster. The world must stop what it's doing and move out of your god-damn way, because you know, "I play video games."
The bullied have become the bullies, but those bullies want that pope-mobile protection when their pastime is put under the microscope. Meanwhile a good number of gamers will spew out more threats and slurs before most of us have had our morning coffee. Politicians and pundits aren't pulling these theories out of thin air (sans Fox News, but when aren't they pulling stuff from their asses?)
Are we a community? I guess. Is it dysfunctional? Yup. Now, don't get it twisted that I'm expecting a nerd version of "We're All in the Same Game." I'm just expecting a little more respect and a lot more empathy.
At this point, I'm ashamed to be lumped in with the lot of you assholes. I'm still going to play through it though.
